As one of the most important urban public supporting facilities,primary and secondary schools have no unified normative implementation guidelines for their relevant planning standards.The current primary and secondary school location planning in China is basically under the framework of the national standard,and various indicators are calculated according to the actual situation to make overall planning.With the development of the urbanization process,under the advance of new town construction and renewal of the old city gradually exposed problems on the configuration of primary and secondary schools,such as insufficient teachers waste,excessive exercise choice,degree,single radius size is too large,the school serves a blind area,such as peak school district road traffic congestion is caused by the improper location of small and medium-sized schools of common problems.The traditional location planning method of primary and secondary schools mainly takes the service radius as the evaluation index of location but fails to take into account the fact that the actual school distance and service radius cannot be well coupled in the process of students' going to and from school due to the traffic,buildings,streets and other practical conditions.Based on the students to learn the actual distance as the main entry point,the use of space syntax analysis,in the appropriate layout section of primary and secondary schools to the position of surrounding settlements to primary and secondary schools' actual distance of the coverage,to make up for the traditional cover surrounding settlements with the service radius of the fixed point method of service radius and the actual distance to school does not match the problem.Spatial syntax combines quantitative analysis and visual analysis,which not only has scientific and reasonable interpretability,but also has simple operability and wide applicability.This paper aims to make a quantitative analysis and comparison on the site selection and layout of primary and secondary schools in Chengdu by using the theories related to spatial syntactic axis analysis method and taking Jinniu District,the main old urban area of Chengdu,and Tianfu new area,the new urban area under planning and development,as research samples.From the three aspects of accessibility,safety,and actual distance,the evaluation of the current situation of the sample is conducted,and the planning and evaluation of the planning school in Tianfu New District is carried out to verify the spatial syntax applied to the location of primary and secondary schools.
