With the continuous development of communication technology and the gradual improvement of intelligent transportation system, the deployment of VANETs(Vehicle Ad Hoc Networks)has become possible. The deployment of VANETs can improve driving environment and road safety,at the same time,it also brings a lot of safety problems. However,in an open-access environment, privacy is one of the greatest challenges,as drivers want to keep their personal information protected. In order to protect users' privacy, this paper mainly studies the anonymous authentication protocol for VANETs.Firstly, the research status of efficient secure anonymous authentication schemes for VANETs at home and abroad is presented, and the shortcomings of existing schemes in security and revocation performance are analyzed.Security issues such as forward security and backward security are not fully considered in terms of security. To prevent the revoked entity from generating a valid authentication information, the verifiers must frequently download the latest revocation list from one or more remote authorities, which greatly increases the workload of the remote authority and the verifier,in terms of revocation.Secondly, according to the attack threat in VANETs system, the design target is given.According to the design goal,a new anonymous authentication protocol scheme is proposed by using BBS+ signature and complete subtree.A double revocation mechanism is constructed in the case, which realizes the revocation and forward/backward security of members, and provides a verification method without downloading revocation list. The proposed protocol divides the whole area of VANETs into several independent areas(groups),each area(groups)is managed by the corresponding RSU,so that the trusted third party can get rid of the heavy work of generating group certificates for all OBUs.The scheme allows RSU to obtain revocation lists from the trusted third party, and OBU can verify the validity of signatures without downloading the revocation list.Thirdly, the security and computational overhead of the proposed scheme are compared with those of the existing schemes. In terms of security, this scheme has forward/backward security,unforgeability,anonymity,traceability,non-frameability and other security attributes, which can not be fully satisfied by the existing schemes, and the corresponding formal proof of the security attributes is given. In terms of computational overhead, compared with the existing signature algorithm and verification algorithm based on group signature anonymous authentication scheme, although the efficiency of the signature algorithm is lower than other schemes, the verification algorithm is efficient. Finally, this paper evaluates the robustness of the scheme, proposes to use VBN ideas to ensure robustness, and solves the influence of computational overhead on robustness through hardware accelerators, and simulates the scheme.
