Nowadays,there are a total of 38 cities in China that have opened metro operation,of which more than 60% belong to national historical and cultural cities.In these cities,people tend to pay more attention to the layout of the subway network and site selection of the subway construction in the ancient city,ignoring the organic combination of the subway entrance and the surrounding historical space,so that the urban space around the subway entrance does not play a role in promoting the ancient city.As one of the first batch of famous historical and cultural cities in China,Suzhou is also the first prefecture-level city in China to open a subway,the construction of subways in Suzhou is constantly advancing.However,the existing urban space around the subway entrance in the ancient city can no longer fully meet the increasing demand of people,and the characteristics of the ancient city are gradually weakening.In view of this problem,this paper selects the urban space around the subway entrance in the ancient city of Suzhou as the research object from the perspective of environment-behavior studies,conducts in-depth research on multiple spatial examples and understands the real needs of people,combines the observation results with objective evaluation,summarize the problems and optimize to arrive at the appropriate strategy.In general,this paper is carried out in the logical order of "discovering problems--analyzing problems--solving problems".Firstly,based on the above questions,a large number of documents are read to understand the research status of the spatial relationship between the metro and the ancient city at home and abroad,the basic content of environmental behavior and the related theory of the ancient city renewal are analyzed in detail to provide theoretical support and methodological guidance for the study.Secondly,the spatial characteristics of the ancient city of Suzhou and the development of the subway are introduced,and analyses the general situation of the urban space around the subway station in the ancient city.Combined with the land use function and actual use of urban space around the subway station,the space is divided into three categories: the commercial type of the ancient city,the scenic spot type of the ancient city and residential type of the ancient city.According to the investigation content and investigation method of environmental-behavior studies,the investigation elements and typical space of this study are extracted.Then,observation survey method and questionnaire method are adopted to conduct in-depth research on the spatial elements,usage behavior,usagedemand and satisfaction degree of typical space,comprehensive analysis of the research results,summed up the current situation of the overall structure,traffic connection,walking guidance and space quality of the subway space in the ancient city.Finally,based on the research results and related principles,the optimization design of the space is carried out,and the optimization strategy of the urban space around the subway entrance in the ancient city is summarized,which can provide some reference for the design guidelines of the urban space around the subway station in the ancient city in the future.
