In special children’s schools, public facilities play a very important role in the study and life of disabled children. The well-designed public facilities not only enable special children to adapt to the school environment quickly, but also play an important role in the physical and psychological rehabilitation of special children. At present, most special children’s schools in our country mainly focus on the basic and vocational education of disabled children, but neglect the design of public facilities in the process of campus planning of special children’s schools.Generally, special children’s schools only start from the physiological needs of disabled children, install some barrier-free facilities, and rarely consider the psychological and emotional needs of special children. In the field of design, there are few studies on the design of public facilities for special children’s schools from the perspective of emotional experience. In order to systematically study the design of public facilities in special children’s schools from the physiological, psychological and emotional levels, this paper introduces the concept of service design and related methods, and studies the strategies and design process of public facilities in special children’s schools.Firstly, the author classifies the stakeholders of public facilities in special children’s schools through user surveys, and constructs user portraits of four types of typical users based on the physiological characteristics of disabled children;secondly, according to the behavior of typical users, user itinerary maps are constructed separately, and the contact points and pain points when using public facilities are summarized;secondly, the needs of typical users are gathered. The public facilities for special children’s schools are categorized into six key words:safety, reasonableness, ease of use, interest, independence and pleasure, which correspond to the physiological, psychological and emotional needs of special children respectively. The public facilities for special children’s schools are categorized into three types:functional guarantee type, equal interest type and emotional experience type. Finally, three types of public facilities are proposed.Strategies are used to guide the design and practice of school guidance facilities for special children,so as to enhance the emotional experience of special children when using public facilities.By applying the concept and method of service design, this paper not only expands the application scope of service design theory, but also provides a new perspective for the theory and practice of public facilities design in special schools.
