Critical Regional Thoughts

The region is a complex of the group as the subject,the natural condition of a place,the social reality and the human history.The region is the basic unit of the world civilization,and the difference of the place produces various aspects of the world civilization.The wave of globalization on the basis of modernity is the most recent sharp impact on the regional culture,and the abuse of the mechanical copy and the symbol in the form is the follow-up or extension of the impact.Region is a kind of eultural consensus,eriticism is the basic ateibute of its companion.In the pre-industrial era,the critical regional thought was self-evident in architecture,and it suceessfully adapted an architectural paradigm to local culture in order to produce a unique architectural form.Therefore,the public buildings at this time can not only meet the functional needs,but also act as the reproduction of the common,ideas of the group at the same time.The buildings produced in this situation are the products of common construction and common use.In the industrial era,under the scour of modem logic,the group relationship maintained by politics,religion,geography and consanguinity is gradually declining,and new buildings based on individualism emerge in endlessly.Architectural expression gradually changes from the embodiment of cultural consensus to function,economy and technology first.At the same time,a small number of architects consciously reflect on the destruction of regional culture by modem architecture,re-use the region as the creative driver,through a large mumber of practices and discussions related to the local architectural thought,transfer and continue this ancient and profound thought Although floating and uncertain,sometimes critical regional thought has become the link between regional culture and universal civilization.This paper takes the critical regionalism put forward in the 1980s as the introduction,jumps out of the narrow eategory of "doctrine",and discriminates and analyzes the basic concept of "critical region".This paper discusses the structure of historical observation and case analysis:the part of historical observation focuses on the modernist period,represented by Wright Alva Aalto and Danxia Kenzi,and deals with different periods of modernism.The treatment of regional culture under different cultures is analyzed,and the critical regional thought is viewed from the history.The case analysis section will take an in-depth look at two typical regional critical works-a mountain road leading to the Actress of Athens and a tent booth in Coles.The works represent two different practical methods in the face of regional tradition,either in the form of narration from the classical literature,or through the construction of the expression from the objective reality.Starting from practice,we should transcend theoretical discourse.establish a thinking path from theory to method to practice,and reflect on the misreading of regional thought and the present situation of practice.
