Internet of Vehicles(IoV)can provide vehicles with the feature of potential danger warning and collision avoidance in their current road condition by sharing their own status information with other vehicles on the road.At the same time,IoV is supposed to play an important role of improving the utilization rate of existing transportation facilities,road transportation efficiency,and reducing traffic congestion.This paper analyzes the functional requirements of the On-Board Unit(OBU)and the development status in domestic and abroad.After that,the PCB board of OBU was designed,and the driver of 802.11 p RF module was transplanted as well.Then,the mechanisms and basic function of the 802.11 p RF module are analyzed in detail.On this basis,redeveloped and packaged the 802.11 p RF module,redesigned the application layer,modified the underlying layer,unified the package,proposed a Linux-based software architecture,and developed the host computer,which can directly configure parameters and read the underlying parameters while running.After that,the performance and communication delay data broadcasted in a long-time,multi-connection(5 nodes)state were actually tested.The results show that each OBU communication function is normal,and the ARM platform is transplanted.Finally,combined with the architecture of intelligent car,the vehicle controller of intelligent vehicle(new energy vehicle)is designed,and the designed Vehicle Control Unit(VCU)is integrated with the OBU for typical conditions: forward collision early warning conditions,emergency braking conditions,intersection conditions and queue driving conditions are analyzed and tested to verify that the designed OBU hardware has high reliability and its communication distance,delay,and packet loss rate can meet those working conditions mentioned above.VCU achieve the function of line control drive,line control braking,automatic steering etc.with high precision.
