After the 21st century, the number of elderly people in China has soared, and the aging of the population has become one of the most serious problems in China. It is not advisable to copy the old-age care cases in western countries. The construction of a large number of nursing homes not only costs money, but also contradicts the traditional Chinese idea of "a house full of children and grandchildren".The elderly generally resist moving into nursing homes.Therefore,home-based care for the aged is the choice of the vast majority of the elderly in our country,so solving the housing problems of the elderly in the home has become the primary research content. After the 1980s,a large number of houses were built in the city, which did not take into account the needs of the elderly at the beginning of construction, but with the growth of time, the number of the elderly increased sharply.Due to the lack of functional space, unreasonable spatial layout and the lack of barrier-free facilities, these houses cannot meet the needs of the elderly. However, the characteristics of cold and snowy winter in the cities in cold regions restrict the daily life of the elderly, which is mainly reflected in the inability to go out for a long time and talk with others in winter.Long-term isolation from the outside world is likely to cause loneliness in the elderly, which will have a negative impact on the elderly.Papers in Jixi multi-storey building, for example, three layers of Jixi district of the elderly using methods of questionnaire survey and field interviews, and field survey was carried out on the part of the housing, with the analysis of the literature, summed up the cold city multilayer residence at present there exists a common problem,to the old people’s behavior, psychological and physiological characteristics of the three aspects and requirements as the foundation, based on old human body engineering, could be divided into private residential space and public space the two parts to study the optimal aging transformation method. It is hoped to provide reference for the aging transformation of the old multi-storey residential buildings in cold areas. The suitable aging transformation of the intimate space in the thesis mainly includes the transformation of kitchen space, toilet space, bedroom space, living room space and storage space. The aging renovation of public space mainly includes the addition of elevators, stairwells, outdoor communication space and unit entry space. The focus of the renovation is to assist the elderly to complete their daily activities independently through barrier-free design and other methods.
