With the rapid development of computer technology and multimedia technology,virtual reality(VR)technology has gradually developed and applied in all walks of life.Based on VR technology,a highly simulated virtual environment can be built to realize real-time operation and perception for users,thus providing users with an immersive experience.Engineering graphics is a discipline that uses graphics as the research object to expresses design thinking.Its syllabus clearly points out that it is important to cultivate students' spatial logical thinking ability and three-dimensional modeling ability for 3D shapes.The cultivation of 3D engineering drawing ability has become an inevitable and important development trend on manufacturing industries in the future.It is imperative to build a 3D learning environment for students' learning.However,the current model learning resources of 3D shapes are mainly based on physical models such as traditional wood molds and mechanical models.They are limited by time,space,model type and quantity,and can be displayed in a limited form,which can not meet the needs of students well.The advantages of VR technology,such as multi-perception,interactivity,immersion,conception and extensibility,can make up for the shortcomings in the current learning mode.In this paper,firstly,the development status of VR education and the current research status of the engineering graphics learning platform is introduced,and we proposed the advantages of applying VR technology to the engineering graphics teaching system.Secondly,with the constructivist theory,immersion theory and gamification learning theory as the theoretical guidance,combined with the analysis of students' needs,the design requirements are put forward.Then,with VR technology as the technical support,the immersive interactive learning experience as the research purpose,we develop and realize the immersive virtual teaching system of engineering graphics.The basic teaching content in engineering drawing teaching is selected as the design reference of knowledge framework.With the Unity3 D platform,the immersive environment construction and interactive information feedback design are carried out.The system constructs four learning modules from basic body learning to complex assembly learning,which are progressive layer by layer.The operation of 3D model such as selection,movements,assembly and disassembly are realized through LeapMotion gesture recognition.Finally,in the experimental practice part of this paper,a control experiment is used to evaluate the usability of the virtual teaching system,which is divided into the physical model assembly environment and virtual assembly environment.During the experiment,the time used by the participants in the process of completing the task and other experimental data and real-time feedback from users were collected and sorted out.Through the analysis of experimental data,the results have shown that the 3D immersive virtual teaching system have good learning effect and can improve the students' participation and interest in learning.Compared with physical model learning,it has the advantages of the more abundant information feedback,which can help users to improve the cognition of reducer model structure and parts in the assembly drawing.In addition,virtual learning platform based on VR technology can realize unlimited expansion of resources and provide a novel teaching mode and reference model for other curriculum knowledge.
