Exploring Slow Space From The Perspective Of Livable City

In recent years,the construction of ecological,livable and sustainable cities has gradually become the common goal of major cities in the world.In China,the 2015 Central Urban Work Conference has made a comprehensive deployment of urban development which focusing on improving the livability of urban development in the new era.In view of the urban development concept of "innovation,coordination,green,open and sharing",the importance of slow space for green travel and the construction of open blocks has gradually been universally recognized and concerned.Therefore,based on the background and guided by the theory of "livable city",this paper aims toexplore the system construction and evaluation methods of slow space from the perspective of livable city,and to provide reference for the practice of slow space planning.The paper is devided into four parts in structure:Section 1: Explore the relationship between livable city and slow space.Starting from the concepts and characteristics of slow space and livable city,this paper clarifies the guidance of slow space for livable city,and the livable ability of slow-moving space can only be reflected by meeting the livable city construction standard as the material carrier.Section 2: Study the type characteristics and planning elements of the slow space under the livable perspective.By sorting out the types of slow space and combining the characteristics of livable case analysis,five planning elements of slow space are summarized,namely spatial form,traffic organization,supporting facilities,landscape environment elements and places.And analyze the habitability of each element.Section 3: Constructing the index evaluation system of slow space from the perspective of livability.Combining with the elements of slow-moving space,guided by the goal of livable city construction,five principles of planning and evaluation of slow space are summarized.Based on this,the slow evaluation index system and applicability descriptions are constructed from the five assessment indicators,namely,the reachability,safety,humanization,diversity and characteristics.Section 4: Empirical research.According to the evaluation index system of slow space from the perspective of livable city,this paper applies the evaluation system to Wuyuan Bay Waterfront Residential Area in Xiamen.Through the evaluation of relevant results,combined with the missing items in the index,it puts forward suggestions on improving and upgrading strategies from the aspects of spatial form,traffic organization,facilities,landscape environmental elements and places.Based on the elements of slow space planning from the perspective of livable city,this paper obtains the evaluation results from accessibility evaluation,safety evaluation,humanization evaluation,diversity evaluation and characteristic evaluation for different types of slow space.Combined with the elements of slow space,the corresponding improvement and planning strategies are put forward to provide guidance and reference for Xiamen and other cities aiming at livable construction.
