Research On Living System And Typical Layout Of The Elderly Living Independently

Half of the elderly in China are now living independently,but the researches related to the living environment of the elderly seldom focus on the living environment of those who live alone.The systematic theory specifically on the living environment for the elderly living independently has not yet emerged.This paper dedicates to find a solution for this remaining problem.The content of this paper can be divided into the five sections mentioned below.In the first chapter of this paper,the theme of this paper is proposed.That is: in the current social context,half of the elder population in China live independently,whereas it is hard for the actual living environment to meet their daily needs;one should seek to construct a living environment,or a system so to speak,formulate systematic solutions,and provide recommendations to improve the quality of living for the elderly living independently.The comprehensive implementation of the service system for aged people in our country can be thus promoted.The status of researches from home and abroad is evaluated and summarized;the scope,methodology,and framework of this paper is thus determined based on it.In the second chapter,the characteristics of the community level home-based care model is evaluated.Referring to the experience of home-based care service for the elderly from countries such as the U.S.,the U.K.,and Japan,which already stepped into the stage of an aged society,the content included in the service can be evaluated and the core content that fits the situation of China can be extracted.The differences between the elder population living independently and those living dependently are concluded and summarized.Through the researches from domestic and foreign scholars on community level living environment planning based on walking pattern,the relationship between the needs of the elderly living independently and the living environment is looked into.In the third chapter,the current living conditions and behavioral living needs of the elderly living independently are investigated.Based on characteristics of living conditions,lifestyles,health conditions,and economic statuses,field investigations and interviews are conducted on the current living conditions of the elderly who live alone through the use of questionnaires.Issues exist in the current living conditions of the elderly living independently are later summarized.The relationship between the living environment and behavioral needs was looked into specifically.The basic types of independent living needs of the elderly living in the “Elderly Group” and “Universality of Home Life” were investigated.According to the conclusion of the study,the demand type is refined and the demand structure is established.In the fourth chapter,the composition and ideal model of the living system for the elderly living independently are formed.The living behavioral demand of the elderly living independently is projected onto the level of physical environment and care service,and the connotation and specific elements of the living system are defined.The residential system consists of the four basic elements including the residential building,the public supporting facilities,the home-based care service network,and city functions.City function supports the living system that consists four fundamental elements;it also a component of the ideal living system for the elderly living independently.In the fifth chapter,the typical applications based on ideal living system mentioned above are discussed.Based on the composition and ideal model of the independent living system for the elderly,in terms of the proposed community,existing communities and comprehensive old-age community,the research formulate typical solutions that complement each other with qualitative and quantitative indicators,design strategies and various types of communities from the four aspects of ideal space for residential buildings,ideal layout of public facilities,ideal network of home care service,and ideal system of urban function support.On the one hand,the typical solutions are the practical feedback of the ideal model,and on the other hand,it is intended to provide a model for the future construction of the living environment for the elderly living independently.
