With the advent of the era of "national leisure",the implementation of paid vacation system and the proposal of "global tourism" strategy,China's tourism industry has entered a golden age,and the development of tourism has been regarded as a new engine of social and economic development. At the same time, the development of tourism also puts forward new requirements for infrastructure construction.Highway transportation,as an important supporting industry of tourism, plays an important role in promoting regional tourism development. On the one hand, all kinds of highway infrastructure construction promote the development of tourism resources and improve regional accessibility;on the other hand, highway accessibility affects tourists' travel decision-making and tourism experience. Therefore, all regions increase investment in highway construction to develop tourism economy, but to what extent can highway infrastructure drive regional tourism economic growth? Is there a spatial spillover effect of highway infrastructure on regional tourism economy? There is no definite answer to these questions.Different sample selection and research design will lead to different conclusions.Especially few scholars pay attention to the spatial spillover effect of highway infrastructure on tourism economy.Based on this, this paper takes 26 cities of the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration as the research object, bases on the highway traffic construction and tourism economic development of the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration, theoretically deeply analyses the role path of highway infrastructure in influencing regional tourism economic growth, and empirically uses spatial exploratory analysis method and spatial econometric model to analyze the spatial impact of highway infrastructure construction on regional tourism economic growth in the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration. The results show that: firstly, highway infrastructure construction affects regional tourism economic growth through macro and micro paths;secondly, domestic tourism and highway infrastructure construction in the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration has a good development trend, but there is a large gap between cities;thirdly, the tourism economic development of 26 cities in the whole Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration has a significant positive spatial autocorrelation, and presents a "center-periphery" structure. Then, the traditional econometric model and spatial econometric model are constructed for regression analysis.Without considering the spatial effect, the output elasticity of highway transportation infrastructure to domestic tourism economy is larger. But the results of spatial Durbin model considering spatial factors show that the output elasticity of highway infrastructure to local tourism economy is 0.5203,which proves that highway transportation infrastructure construction can effectively promote regional tourism economic development;highway construction also has a positive spillover effect on tourism economic growth in surrounding areas;first-class highway has a significant positive effect on local and surrounding regional tourism economic development. The impact of secondary highway on tourism economy is not clear. In addition, variables such as labor force, capital and urbanization level have a significant positive impact on regional tourism economy, which confirms that capital and labor input are the source of regional tourism economic development. Finally, the corresponding policy recommendations are put forward.
