The world's first Scanning Tunneling Microscope(STM)was invented in 1981 by Gerd Binnig and Heinrich Rohrer at the IBM Zurich Research Institute. It is the first time that atomic information of material surface is presented in front of people's eyes, which enables people to study the physical and chemical properties of material more intuitively. The purpose of this paper is to improve the overall rigidity of STM system by improving the relevant structure and control principle without increasing the original size,so as to improve the stepping accuracy of stepping motor and the imaging quality of STM system. The main research work of this paper can be summarized as follows:(1)Based on the existing stepping motor,an inertial adjustable stepping motor based on single piezoelectric stack is designed and manufactured, and a nano stepping motor based on single piezoelectric stack friction is driven. The inertial stepper motor based on a single piezoelectric stack:PistolDrive has been debugged, demonstrating the excellent step performance of a single piezoelectric stack.(2)Referring to the fabrication of the preamplifier circuit in the commercial STM,a simple preamplifier circuit with a simple circuit was designed and tested. The results show that the circuit is consistent with the theoretical calculation of the amplification factor, and has excellent anti-interference ability.(3)Drawing on the previous experimental experience of the research team, the company independently designed and built an STM mirror for Piezoelectric Scanning Tube(PST).The scope device greatly increases the rigidity and stability of the STM system, and shields the external electromagnetic interference to the STM to some extent.(4)Combined with the peripheral hardware facilities produced by National Instruments and the LabVIEW graphical program, graphite with high structural stability was used as a sample, and the self-made STM system was calibrated according to the imaging results.
