By near -field, instead of far-field, which is used by conventional microscope, scanning near-field microscopy (SNOM) has successfully extended the resolution of optical microscopes beyond the diffraction limit. This technique has brought wide attention and become a hot point of research.. Photon scanning tunneling optical microscope (PSTM), which detected near-field through frustrated total internal reflection, is one kind of SNOM and is not mature at present. This thesis is about the research work of the principle and techniques related to PSTM. First ,the principle of near-field optics was introduced. Through the analysis of angular spectrum, the principle, technical feature, experimental scheme and resolution of SNOM is described. Second, the principle ,constitutes and some recent technical development of the PSTM system developed by our research group ,together with some images of the samples, such as small polyethylene balls, mica, plant virus, obtained by it was presented. Finally? PSTM images was analysed. We discussed the problem of inclination pseudo-image, calculated its elimination with the method of rt -symmetrical double laser illuminating by the model of multi-film.
