In recent years following the rapid improvement in economy and society of Vietnam,the fast development of agriculture and industry has led to remarkable urbanization.In the process of urbanization development,some traffic problems such as traffic congestion,traffic accidents,traffic environmental pollution and so on began to break out gradually.Hanoi,the capital of Vietnam,is the political and cultural center of the nation,also the most important city of the northern economic triangle of Vietnam,consequently,the economy is booming,but the fast urbanization is also going with many problems,especially,the problems of traffic congestion at signalized intersections in rush hours leads to the decrease in the intersection traffic capacity and the increase in the traffic travelling time.These problems happened because the railway facilities and public transport development cannot meet the travelling demand of citizens,also the raise in the number of cars and motorbikes,at the same time there is a lack of traffic management and organization,making the problems of Hanoi traffic intersection become a hot topic.This thesis begins with the characteristic of mixed traffic,focuses on studying the problems of Hanoi traffic intersections as a key subject,firstly using the qualitative method to analyze the existing problems in Hanoi traffic organization,pay attention to signalized intersections.Secondly,based on the analysis results of characteristics and existing conditions of Hanoi traffic organization,the advanced knowledge of traffic organization studied in Southwest Jiaotong University,the international experience of urban traffic organization and the research achievement of scientists,the Hanoi traffic problems of signal intersections have been being dealt with.There are three main points as the following:(1)Analyzing the characteristics of mixed transportation and traffic conflict of urban signal intersections and the basic theories related to traffic organization.(2)Take Hanoi capital of Vietnam as an example,this thesis analyzes the current conditions of signal intersection traffic organization and transportation network of Hanoi,and its existing problems.(3)Focusing on survey and analysis of the important signal intersection of Hanoi,together with applying the simulation software of VISSIM for optimizing the signal intersection organization.The results show the proposed traffic organization methods are more suitable then other existing applied methods.
