All of the world is struggling with the energy and environmental problem of traffic, especially for China. In recent years, with the continuous improvement of the living standards, the occupancy rate of private cars has increased rapidly. The amount of transportation oil consumption in transportation in China gradually increased, and the energy problem has become more serious. This thesis analyzed the real-life driving data of 50 PHEVs(Plug-in hybrid electric vehicles)in one year, which is collected by Shanghai Electric Vehicle Data Center(SHEVDC),and extract the driving pattern and charging pattern of the PHEV drivers to conduct the economic and environmental benefits in the lifecycle of PHEVs.The paper firstly conducted a descriptive statistical analysis of drivers’driving and charging behavior. The analysis of driving behavior includes travel mileage, travel time, energy consumption of daily travel and single travel. The charging behavior includes charging frequency, charging interval, charging start time, charging location, etc.,and the results were compared with the results in the EV project of U.S.Department of Energy.Secondly,a total cost of ownership model considering PHEV for users is built to study the economic feasibility of replacing the Internal Combustion Engine Vehicle(ICEV)with PHEV.The model comprehensively considers the vehicle purchase price, operating expenses and resale value of the vehicle in the lifecycle. The difference all of the model components between PHEVs and ICEVs is utilized to directly evaluate the economic benefits of PHEVs.Under the current subsidy policy of government,PHEV is not economically superior to ICEV,but its economic feasibility will gradually increase with the increase of oil price, and the decrease of electricity price and vehicle purchasing price.Thirdly, the charging decision model is conducted based on the prospect theory, and the simulation model is built based on the data-driven method to simulate the full-day driving and charging behavior of PHEV drivers. The simulation model is purposed to simulate each charging and driving behavior of PHEV drivers based on the real-life driving and charging data. The charging decision model takes the characteristic into the charging behavior simulation, therefore deciding whether to charge at home or charge at work place. Finally,an analysis of the environmental benefits of PHEV is conducted.Sensitivity analysis of electricity price, oil price and all electric driving range is conducted for the amount of greenhouse gas such as carbon dioxide(CO2)and polluting gas such as SO2 and NOX emitted by PHEV.PHEV emits less greenhouse gas and pollutant gas than ICEV.However, due to the form of thermal power generation in China,PHEVs have emitted more polluting gas such as SO2.The amount of CO2 and NOX emitted by PHEV gradually decrease as the oil price and all electric driving range increase and the electricity price decreases, but the amount of SO2 emitted by it gradually increases. The research results of the thesis are of great significance for improving the PHEV’s user acceptance, effectively utilizing the charging station to meet the user’s charging requirements, guiding the manufacturers to make reasonable production and sales strategies, providing the reference for the government with a subsidy policy and controlling other influencing factors for PHEVs.
