With the advancement of economic and social development, energy is a growing concern in various countries of the world. It has become an important indicator of the country’s overall competitiveness. Electrical energy as an important national energy for the country’s economic development, technological advances, and other aspects of social stability has made important contributions. Grid works as the basis for electrical energy use of the service economy and society has a non-negligible role. With the increasing of power consumption, the demand of the power supply lines have become higher, in order to reduce power losses during long distance, more and more countries begain devote to the research of special high-voltage network.In recent years, the load of electricity grow faster and the gradual emergence of EHV transmission engineering insufficient transmission capacity, transmission corridors scarce, high-capacity long-distance transport difficulties, the larger issues environmental pressures. Compared with the general transmission lines, UHV transmission line system with a high voltage level, covers a wide span of the characteristics of the larger and higher altitudes, it also indirectly increases the difficulty of UHV transmission line system established. In this paper, the actual work to Hami-Zhengzhou±800kV DC transmission line project as an example of the benefits of UHV transmission projects were studied.After introducing the characteristics of UHV transmission project, advantages and existing problems and countermeasures. The paper establishs a comprehensive benefit evaluation index system of UHV transmission project, which from four-level indicators about economic, environmental, social and power efficiency, and profitability, solvency, customer satisfaction, etc.23indicators12secondary indicators, NPV rate, investment profitability, payback period and so on. Then the paper introduces the evaluation method and selected the fuzzy hierarchy comprehensive to evaluate the effectiveness of UHV transmission projects. According to the results we found that the effectiveness of this project is between general and better, which is slightly higher than the level closer to a better social, economic and power efficiency slightly better than the average, all aspects of benefits are not ideal. The need to establish a broad national network of UHV transmission lines.
