With the rapid development and proper combination of power and communication technology,the new generation smart substation based on IEC 61850 communication standard has become the developing direction of future substations.As the information exchange channel of the smart substation,the communication network has a direct effect on the performance of the smart substation.This article briefly introduces the IEC 61850 communication standard,summarizes the basic concepts and functional characteristics of the smart substation and analyzes its composition,describes the isolated and unified network structures as well as the bus type,the star type and the ring type network topologies.From the perspectives of reliability,safety and real-time property,this article presents the detailed performance requirements for the smart substation communication network based on IEC 61850.This article draws lessons from previous literatures,references the shortcomings of simple data stream model,lack of discussion of delay of different messages and so on,using OPNET simulation software,takes D2-1 medium distribution smart substation as the research object,models and analyzes its communication network and various data streams,and compares the real-time property of the three communication network topologies in detail from the perspectives of different messages.Based on the simulation results,this paper proposes a network optimization scheme based on the appropriate VLAN classification and message priority tagging technology for the problems of high link utilization and inappropriate VLAN classification that have not been considered in previous studies,which effectively improves the real-time property of the communication network of D2-1 smart substation.Finally,the related concepts and evaluation indexes of reliability are introduced.Based on the method of reliability block diagram,taking the communication network of D2-1 smart substation as an example,the reliability of the bus type,the star type and the ring type communication networks are analyzed respectively and compared together.
