Research On Communication Network Organizing Scheme Of Smart Substation Based On IEC 61850

Smart Substation plays an important role in the process of power generation, transmission, substation and distribution in Smart Grid and guarantees the power grid to operate efficiently, reliably and in low carbon economy. Unlike traditional substation, Smart Substation has marked features with intelligent equipment, communication network and network station layer supported by advanced applications based on IEC61850 standard. It can not only promote the intelligent level of the power grid, but also boost the efficiency of information collection, measurement, control, protection, measurement, monitoring processes and reliability.This article first analyzes the IEC 61850 standard in detail, and expounds the technical features of Smart Substation Automation System respect to the key technologies, including the Ethernet key technologies, communication equipment, and important information and so on. And some measures which can improve the reliability of communication network are put forward considering the characteristics of our country’s environment and industry background. Then, it summarizes the typical communication network organizing schemes and analyzes the operation characteristics and the applications of each scheme, and sets up the network of the typical process flow calculation model, which is helpful for the preliminary quantitative analysis of the rationality of the process layer network. Finally, it detailed analyses two types of redundancy allocation schemes based on double communication network and based on IEC 62439 standard, and studies their benefits, disadvantages and suitable applications respectively. It points out the redundant technology development trend, which is helpful for the promotion and construction of Smart Substation in the near future.
