| After thirty years of large scale urban and rural development in Shanghai,most old residential areas(Lilong)in the central city has been removed,and the residents have been relocated to resettlement areas in the urban fringe,who need to adjust themselves for the new living environments and life styles,as their original ones have been destroyed.Residential modalities after removal are different among different resettlement areas due to a number of factors such as different resettlement policies over time,different location before and after removal as well as new physical and social environment after resettlement.Therefore,this paper attempts to take aboriginal residential modalities after removal as the research object to explore their morphological features based on spot investigation.Five different resettlement areas are selected regarding their resettlement time,removal policy and relocate distance,including: 1)Anju Gulang Dongyuan in Putuo District(7 years);2)Fengshui Baodi in Baoshan District(10 years);3)Anju Gulang Xinyuan in Putuo District(12 years);4)Xinshiji Jiayuan in Pudong District(20 years);and 5)Taopu Xincun in Putuo District(20 years).This study focuses on on-site investigation of these resettlement areas,compares the connection and changes of life styles in the original and new living environments,analyzes the difference resident modality before and after removal and finally reveals the key factors interrelated.Built upon theoretical tools such as architecture,sociology,and urban planning,this study is hoping to offer some realistic proposals regarding removal policies and resettlement area planning in the future and further explores the new pattern of city update.Beside,this study also concludes a number of common laws during the process of modern city development based on existing observation of such special cases,and might be able to inspire urban theory studies.This paper contains seven chapters: The first chapter introduces the research background,method and importance as well as the case selection;the second chapter presents the theoretical bases and perspectives of this study from different disciplines;the third chapter describes the commons of residential modalities among case;the fourth chapter analyzes the differences of residential modalities and the associated key factors;the fifty chapter summarizes the urban pattern specifically reflected by those selected resettlement areas;the sixth chapter provides practical advices regarding relevant policies and design strategies;and the last chapter serves as a summary of the entire study. |
