Reaserch For Spark Gap Trigger Source Characteristics Applied In GaAs Photoconductive Semiconductor Switch

With the rapid development of laser technology and semiconductor technology,Photoconductive Semiconductor Switches(PCSS)has been gradually become the important switching devices in the field of ultrafast electronics and pulsed power techology.Because of its excellent performance in electricity and ultrafast electron,PCSS has wide prospects for application in many fields.In this paper,we use the radiates light which produced while the gas spark gap switch breakdown as the trigger source,and tested the performance for this trigger source from three aspects:spectrum characteristics,energy property and electrical property.Through the relevant experiments,we identified this trigger source is polychromatic light,the peak wavelength is 500nm and the short wavelength light would effect the trigger result.The light energy can meet the requirements for trigger PCSS and the spatial distribution of light energy contributed to synchronous trigger multi PCSS.Furthermore,we tested the peak current,calorifics characteristic and luminescent effect of spark gap switch in the breakdown process.Moreover,the experiment which use spark gap light source trigger GaAs PCSS has been introduced in this paper.We have successfully obtained the linear mode results and the non-linear mode results,meanwhile we analyzed the results obtained by different trigger source,identified the polychromatic light would let the bad tail phenomenon appeared in pulse waveforms.Futhermore,this paper also introduced the trigger results which output electric pulse width is shorter than trigger light pulse width.
