With the rapid development of semiconductor technology and the repeat frequency pulse power technology,has extremely fast closing time,the minimum time jitter,high repetition rate,good synchronous precision,simple and compact structure,high withstand voltages and other excellent features of photoconductive semiconductor switch(PCSS)in the field of scientific research,medical treatment,national defense and other fields has a broad application prospect,it has been gradually become an important device in the fields of ultrafast and pulsed power.But now,basic are laser as a trigger source to trigger photoconductive switches,the laser device volume generally too large,difficult maintenance and need high technology content,etc.Not conducive to simple and compact structure,not conducive to the miniaturization of equipment,and can achieve the use requirements of laser equipment cost is high,formed a lot of difficulties to the use prospect of photoconductive switch.In this paper,based on the experiments,use of small volume,low-cost inverter two electrodes spark discharge radiation light trigger GaAs photoconductive switch work into the linear model and nonlinear model.This article through to the inverter two electrode spark discharge radiation light pulse of time domain waveform,energy and its spatial distribution,and the frequency spectrum distribution of these three aspects to this light source of the light pulse characteristics were studied experimentally.In the experiment,we found that the light intensity of this light source is proportional to the distance between the two electrodes,the light pulse rise time is about 47ns,the pulse width is about 160ns,the radiation light center wavelength of 500nm.The light energy can meet the basic requirements for trigger GaAs photoconductive switch,and the light energy is basic uniform distribution in the space,It can be used to synchronize trigger multiple switches.Based on the experimental study of the spark discharge radiation light,the experiment which use the light source trigger GaAs photoconductive switch has been introduced in this paper.In the Auston circuit structure,with the 3mm gap GaAs photoconductive switch,we have successfully obtained the linear mode results and the non-linear mode results.At the same time,we analyzed the results obtained of the GaAs photoconductive switch work under the mode of the linear and nonlinear output electric pulse waveform,and we analyzed the experimental results obtained by different trigger source,points out the differences and causes of the differences.Meanwhile,we conducted the synchronization trigger experiment,used the light source successfully triggered two GaAs photoconductive switch into linear work mode,and has a good synchronization.
