BSC Racing Vehicle Cockpit Design Based On Ergonomics

Baja SAE China(BSC)is an emerging racing sport for the higher education,and the BSC racing vehicle used in the competition is based on the Baja mini off-road racing vehicle,which has manufacturing difficulties.Meanwhile,the problems of the vehicle design innovation and ergonomics adaptability are becoming more and more obvious.Research shows that the content of BSC racing vehicle at the present stage mostly focuses on the mechanical structure design and this means safety,comfort and aesthetic need to be improved,Therefore,how to make the vehicle cockpit design more protective,more in line with the operating habits and more humanized has become the focus in this field.In this paper,Ergonomics is treated as the theory basic,the BSC racing cockpit treated as the research object and the design objective is strengthening ergonomics function in the cockpit and improving the relationship between human and machine and improving the visual aesthetics.Firstly,the theory and method of Ergonomics are investigated to discuss the feasibility and necessity of the design.Secondly,through the research of the BSC racing vehicle owners and ergonomic system analysis,the design positioning is determined,and the elements of Ergonomics design are summarized.Thirdly,a BSC racing vehicle cab ergonomic design process is put forward and three schemes of concept design and model design are chosen.The final scheme is determined by paying a return visit of the owners.Finally,the digital human model is combined with the cockpit model constructed in the simulation software JACK,the comfort of the cockpit and the reach of the hand extension is checked in order to optimize the scheme.The Ergonomics design methods and elements of the BSC racing vehicle cockpit are summarized in this paper and applied in the design process of it.The scientific,easy using,safe,comfortable,beautiful cockpit is finally designed through the Ergonomics design,the scientific measurement,and the simulation.The design meets the requirements of the drivers,plays the role of Ergonomics and increases the ornamental value of the competition.
