With the operating environment and conditions of China's high-speed railway,including long operating distance,long operating time and diversified operating condition,and to realize the full autonomy of high-speed EMU technology,to create high-speed EMU suitable for China's national conditions and railway track conditions,China National Railway Corporation started the research and development of standard EMU.Standard EMU integrates the advantages of various types of existing EMU in China,establishes a unified technical standard system,and realizes the unification of EMU in service function,operation and maintenance.The unified platform of standard EMU is conducive to the manufacture and procurement of EMU,reducing costs,and promoting the research of key components of EMU in China.Bogie suspension system is the key component of EMU,it determines or directly affects the stability,safety and comfort of train operation.However,the core technology of high-end suspension system have been monopolized by foreign companies,with high price,different standards,and poor interchangeability.Therefore,it is significant for China to master the key technology of suspension system and to develop a suspension system platform with complete independent intellectual property rights and excellent performance.As a significant part of the secondary suspension of bogie,the research and development of air spring is particularly important.In this paper,the air spring is researched and developed by conducting the research on the technical analysis,structural design,theoretical analysis,trial manufacture and test verification.After summarized the characteristics of air springs that were applied to different types of bogies,and based on the structure of the bogie for standard EMU,the main function and technical specifications of air spring is analyzed in detail,the air spring research direction and goal is determined.Through comparative analysis on the advantages and disadvantages of different types of air bellow and auxiliary spring,the detailed structure of the air spring for standard EMU is determined.Through the theoretical analysis on the key characteristic and strength of key components of air spring in ABAQUS,the reliability of the structure design of the air spring is guaranteed.After trial manufacture of each key component of air spring,it passes the tests and meets all the requirements.Finally,the air spring for standard EMU is manufactured successfully.After the study of the air spring applied to standard EMU,it can meet the technical requirements.It is consist of rolling lobe air bellow and layer spring,with characteristics ofstrong load capacity,small overall dimension,lower stiffness in inflated condition,large lateral displacement,and with a non-linear stopper in lateral direction.Through the whole research process of air spring for standard EMU,the modeling and analysis of air spring is mastered,the theoretical analysis accuracy of air spring is improved,the role of load capacity,stiffness characteristic,deformation capacity and non-linear characteristic is summarized and mastered.
