The acceleration of urbanization has spawned a variety of new activities,and the contradiction between urban security risks and urban development has intensified.The city’s detailed three-dimensional models are becoming more and more important as a key basic information for smart city construction and urban security.On the other hand,with the rapid development of multi-source data and multi-detail level modeling technology,the fineness of urban 3D models has been continuously improved,and the amount of scene data has increased dramatically.The structure of the detailed building model is complex,and there are many geometric small faces,which lead to a large number of fragmented textures,which not only reduces the loading efficiency of the model data,but also significantly reduces the real-time rendering efficiency of the model and restricts the integration application of large-scale urban 3D models.However,the existing organization methods of separated texture often replace the increase in rendering efficiency by sacrificing the amount of texture data.Aiming at the problem of texture organization of 3D building model,this paper proposes an optimization method for fragmented textures of detailed building models for high performance visualization,which reduces the amount of texture data by eliminating redundant textures;The abnormal texture whose UV coordinates exceed the range of [0,1] is dealt with to make it suitable for texture encapsulation.The two-dimensional bin packing idea is used to organize the separated textures to reduce the number of texture files.Finally,based on the texture mapping technology,the texture coordinates are recalculated,the texture is remapped,and the building model whose textures have been optimized is obtained.In order to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method and the feasibility of the method,this paper uses the Wavefront obj format detailed building models to carry out experiments,and uses this method and the similar method to optimize textures of models.The experimental results show that the proposed method can solve the visualization problem of the wrong mapping caused by the general packing method for textures of 3D building models.The result shows smaller texture data and improves model rendering efficiency.
