Study Of Homestay Design With Adaptations To Elderly Population In The Scenario Of Migratory-bird-styled Retirement Life In Rural Area

Since the 21st century,China has entered an aging society nationwide with the increasement of elderly population size year by year and various other problems.The traditional forms of retirement life are no longer satisfying,while various new ones are emerging in which the migratory-bird-styled life form is popular among some elderly enthusiasts for travelling.Zhongyuanxiang,a township in Jiangxi Province,with a pleasant climate and beautiful natural scenery,is a perfect summer resort popular among the elderly people from the surrounding cities.Many elderly people have become "residents" at Zhongyuanxiang.The design framework was introduced in the thesis based on an elaborate analysis to the homestay design with adaptations to elderly population in the scenario of developing migratory-bird-styled life form at Zhongyuanxiang.First of all,the basic concepts,characteristics,development models and trends of migratory-bird-styled rural retirement life form were summarized,and at the same time their development advantages were clarified.The importance of adaptations to elderly people in design was introduced by emphasizing the development trends of the health care and nursing care mode by homestay.Accordingly,the new idea of developing migratory-bird-styled homestay for elderly people in Zhongyuanxiang was proposed.Secondly,based on the field surveys in Zhongyuanxiang,the current situation of the local area was analyzed in the thesis,and the existing problems of homestay design to elderly people were listed.The framework of homestay design at Zhongyuanxiang with adaptations to elderly population was set up in the thesis combing the requirements of indoor and outdoor activities with the homestay interior and exterior design and equipment.Finally,various space design requirements were explained according to different demands of the elderly people with the three aspects of indoor and outdoor design and setup of homestay at Zhongyuanxiang.The form of migratory-bird-styled retirement life in rural area is of guiding importance to some extend to develop the local economy and to improve the local living condition.The idea of design with adaptations to elderly population,combing local geographical characteristics and preserving rural constructions was proposed in the thesis to provide the elderly people with a proper,secure and comfortable retirement living condition.
