Research On The Evolution Of Industrial Clusters In Manufacturing Characteristic Towns In The Perspective Of Evolutionary Economic Geography

In order to implement the new-type urbanization strategy in Chinese way,lead to the economic transformation and upgrade,promote rural revitalization,coordinate the development of urban and rural regions,accelerate supply-side structural reform,characteristic towns have emerged.Manufacturing towns are the mainstream type of characteristic towns and they are rooted in their own characteristic industries.However,in the actual process of developing manufacturing characteristic towns,some of them have exposed the lack of planning for the evolution of industrial clusters.Related research is urgently needed.For this reason,in the perspective of innovative evolutionary economic geography,this thesis identifies three major driving forces for the evolution of industrial clusters in manufacturing characteristics towns:heredity/variation/choice,path dependence and system complexity evolution.It explains how these three major forces promote the evolution of industrial clusters.Then,according to the developing levels,the industrial cluster is divided into four evolution stages:point generation,linear expansion,collaborative plane and innovation network.The specific performance mechanism of three major forces in the four stages is analyzed in turn,which further reveals the manufacturing process.This thesis also chooses Tool Intelligent Manufacturing Town as a case which is selected as a provincial-level characteristic towns in Jiangsu.This case study and empirical results show that the evolution of the industry cluster in this town are consistent with the theoretical framework before,and the innovation network of this town can indeed e ffectively improve the performance of enterprises by knowledge contactFinally,according to the results,this thesis puts forward the following suggestions to develop manufacturing characteristic towns:clarify the characteristics industry of the town and grasp the opportunity;adhere to the dominant position of the market and eliminate the barriers for enterprises;focus on co-evolution of departments to promote the overall development of towns;build the functional intermediary organizations and encourage the vitality of innovation;plan industrial space layout reasonably and promote internal and external communication.
