Since the birth of the power grid,power transformers have been playing a role that cannot be ignored in the system.From the past to the present,the design and manufacturing of power transformers have withstood various challenge in different application such as voltage levels and environmental conditions in China.Nowadays,challenge that the performance of power transformers face in the power grid has been upgraded because of the ever-changing changes of the production structure of electric energy,the development and construction of the power grid,and the needs of users,.This article first reviews the development history of power transformers and the performance requirements of traditional power transformers in the power grid.And then it introduces the current changes in the power grid in terms of electrical energy production structure,power grid development and construction,user needs,etc.,which leads to new requirements for power transformers in terms of frequency performance in the new era.The performance indicators and test methods of traditional power transformers at power frequency are introduced,which leads to methods,devices and test systems for testing power transformers at wide frequency.Through the test,the accuracy of a large number of power transformer products under wide frequency band was detected,and the characteristics of its accuracy in different frequency bands were analyzed and summarized,and the advantages and disadvantages of wide-band measurement performance of various types of power transformers were found.In the end,we theoretically calculate the structural parameters of various types of power transformer products,thereby estimating the distribution parameters of each product,and analyzing the reasons why each product exhibited the measured broadband measurement performance.
