Research On The Design And Use Of Portuguese Square

Being one of the most important intersections between modern Chinese and Western cultural exchanges,there have been various cultures colliding and exchanging in Macao for hundreds of years,forming a unique cultural atmosphere in Macau today.The historic center of Macau has become a World Heritage Site,providing an opportunity for Macau to be a highlight place.Gradually,Macao citizens begin to pay attention and care about the cultural heritage on their own land,to understand the charm of this city and recognize its unique cultural value.Plaza is an important part of Macau’s historic district,the Macau Government has carried out a series of repairs and maintenance for the plaza.The cobblestone has recently been used as a common element to restore the city plaza.The pattern of paving is exquisite and rigorous,and there are many romantic and artistic features.It adds a beautiful landscape to the city plaza,which makes people stop walking and enjoy it.The earliest Portuguese Square classic work in Macau was a black and white pedestrian zone paved by Portuguese technicians on the ground in front of the Senate in the 1990 s.It has also been widely used in urban public spaces,such as Largo do Pagode da Barra,Largo de Santo Agostinho,Barrier Gate Plaza,Tap Seac Plaza,etc.,These places have achieved good results.Portuguese Square has become one of the city images with local characteristics.Analyzing the context of the Portuguese Square plaza and the ground pavement,it is suggested that when formulating the principles and development content of protecting the traditional landscape of Macao,the design of the pavement should be strengthened and the traditional features of the Mediterranean style should be maintained.1.Put forward the research’s background and purpose,content of the research status and the framework structure of the whole paper.2.Analyze the development through systematic study of the Portuguese Square Plaza,like how many plazas actually used Portuguese Square,distribution,and which venues use more.Analyze and rationalize the development of Portuguese Square in Macao from many aspects.3.Summarizing the use of the Portuguese Square plaza in Macao,analyzing the pattern of the Portuguese-style gravel plaza on the Macao peninsula and the design logic.Classify the form of application of the pattern.4.Select a representing Portuguese Square plaza and study the Portuguese-style gravel design techniques,the different building envelopes,the relationship between the building and the pattern,the pattern components,the user’s environmental behavior and how it applies and integrates space enveloping,with picture description,layered analysis of content,and a detailed discussion of Macao Portuguese gravel design techniques.5.Plaza usage,when multiple Portuguese-style gravel plazas appear nearby,how will they affect the area? Analyze the environmental quality of the public space in Macau,and the use of the plaza.This thesis aims to conduct a comprehensive and systematic investigation of Macao-style Macadam Plaza,and explores the design pattern of Macao-style gravel plaza under the influence of multiple factors such as multicultural background,substance and immaterial.
