With the development of China’s construction market and the progress of project management,the general contracting mode is widely implemented in the construction market,which further verifies that the general contracting mode is in line with the owner’s requirements for construction services and integration,which provides a good environment for the general contracting mode to prevail in China.However,there are also many problems in the general contracting mode,such as the lack of overall planning,excessive use of experience management and lack of dynamic control of schedule management,so a more applicable project management method is urgently needed.The application of project schedule management method has always been a research hotspot in foreign countries.There are many deficiencies in the application of traditional schedule management method in specific projects,such as only considering technology,not considering human factors,not paying enough attention to resource constraints,information transmission is not smooth,construction period estimation is too long and construction period delay.In order to solve these problems,scholars and project managers at home and abroad began to find new project management methods.As a project management tool,the Critical Chain technology has also been generally recognized by domestic scholars and project managers.Because the Critical Chain technology optimizes the schedule considering human and resource factors,the schedule is more in line with the actual characteristics and management environment of the project.Compared with the traditional schedule management method,it can ensure the completion of the project on time.In this paper,the glass substrate facilities construction project is taken as the research object of schedule management,and the Critical Chain management model is constructed to form the project management system.By analyzing the project characteristics of the research object,determining the process time and critical path,reordering the processes with resource conflicts in the critical path,obtaining the critical chain,and finally setting and managing the buffer.Through the application of Critical Chain technology to specific cases,the following conclusions are drawn:(1)Critical Chain technology can effectively show the integrity of the project;(2)Critical Chain technology makes the allocation of project resources more reasonable.(3)The Critical Chain technology can guarantee the construction period to the greatest extent;(4)the Critical Chain technology provides a reference for project managers to make decisions and manage projects.Through the in-depth understanding of the theory of Critical Chain technology,and the application of Critical Chain technology to the actual project,I hope to provide new ideas for the domestic and foreign scholars to continue to study the Critical Chain,and provide reference for the progress management of China’s EPC project.
