The main responsibility of the traditional academic library is not only to provide the storage space for the paper document resources,but also to provide the book borrowing service for teachers,students and researchers of the university.Along with the progress of The Times and technology,people's reading medium and earth-shaking changes have taken place in the way of reading,the proportion of these three kinds of spatial relations has been changing,especially the reform of the teaching mode to promote the students' learning styles from passive to active,students have become the core element of the whole process of learning,as an important place for learning,students after class of academic library puts forward "to the reader as the center" the service idea,the service center of gravity from the "book" to the "people";The service object of the change in the library and internal layout and area ratio of each functional Spaces appear significantly changes,the paper document storage and lending space is no longer the museum of the largest space,instead,revolves around the "reader",a series of new learning space,the compound function space,creative gout space as well as some human recreation space,etc.This article will American academic library's independent learning space as the main research object,through to the American colleges and universities teaching mode and idea of education,American college students learning behavior and demand,the service mode of subject knowledge in academic library,as well as the reason for the development of the independent learning space form of the academic library such as analysis,and further study of its inside each function occupancy ratio and space organization,spatial characteristics of various types of independent learning space and area ratio and the American academic library knowledge service system,to learn more about the academic library on the construction of the independent space,then for independent learning space construction of academic library in our country to provide valuable reference basis.The thesis consists of six chapters,which are mainly described in four parts:(1)The first part includes the first chapter and the second chapter,including the introduction chapter and the part of theoretical knowledge.The introduction mainly covers the background of this research,domestic and foreign literature review related to the independent learning space and subject knowledge service in academic libraries,interpretation of relevant concepts,research objects and contents,research purposes,significance and innovation points,research methods and research framework,etc.The second chapter mainly introduces the service mode of subject knowledge and the formation and development of the independentlearning space in academic library.(2)The second part is the third chapter,which is the study of the current situation of the independent learning space in the domestic academic library.Just seven domestic academic libraries are analyzed in the research,in-depth study of its internal ratio of the area of the major functional rooms,each type of independent learning space for the construction of the present situation,the complementary service facilities and the construction of subject knowledge service,etc,and combining the investigation questionnaire of feedback information,summarizes the current domestic academic libraries insufficient independent learning space and needs to be improved.(3)The third part consists of the fourth and fifth chapters,which mainly analyzes the favorable foundation of the formation and development of the independent learning space of academic libraries in American universities and colleges,as well as the specific research on the internal independent learning space of academic libraries in American universities and colleges,which is the core research content of this paper.The fourth chapter concretely analyzes the educational concept,teaching mode,the learning behavior and demand of American college students,the the formation and development of the subject knowledge service in American academic libraries,which lays a foundation for the following part.The fifth chapter is the concrete on the study of American academic library's independent learning space,this paper introduces the conditions,its historical background and the formation and development of research in academic libraries are analyzed and the ratio of function space,spatial organization and all kinds of types,characteristics and function of independent learning space composition and proportion,and introduces the characteristics and construction of subject knowledge service of the academic library.(4)The fourth part is the sixth chapter,which is the reference significance of the construction of independent learning space in American academic libraries to our country.Firstly,it compares the construction of independent learning space and subject knowledge service in Chinese and American academic libraries,and summarizes the relative deficiencies of Chinese academic libraries.Secondly,based on the above achievements and the current situation of our country,the author summarizes five contents worthy of reference in the construction of independent learning space and subject knowledge service in academic libraries in the United States.Through the above research and analysis,it is hoped that it can provide some valuable reference and reference for the future construction of independent learning space in academic libraries in China.
