Because of viscous damper with a strong nonlinear damping characteristics,greater demands are put forward to analysis and design of structure with nonlinear viscous dampers ? In this paper,seismic response of frame structures with nonlinear viscous damper have been discussed and analyzed,and the practical calculation method for the seismic action of the structure is also presented.(1)In view of seismic response of frame structure with nonlinear viscous dampers,the state equations of incremental form is given and solved,meanwhile,the single frame under the same conditions was analyzed by SAP2000,the results of which compared with the numerical calculation method.The analysis indicates that the results of two methods are basically consistent,and the error can satisfy the actual engineering requirements.The researches indicate that the effect of nonlinear viscous damper on the setting floor of the damper is more significant,and on other floors is more weak,therefore the dampers should continuously distribute,and may be unfavourably discontinued;(2)By means of numerical calculation method,on the basis of the uniform arrangement of dampers,the optimization method of damping coefficient and the practical calculation method for the seismic action are studied.The results indicate that in order to make maximum storey drift angle similar with the more bottom floor,and the damping coefficient of each floor should be taken value reasonably,from this,the optimization scheme based on the maximum storey drift angle of frame structures with the uniform arrangement of dampers is proposed,and the optimal formula for the damping coefficient of the damper is given?The practical calculation method for the seismic action of frame structure with nonlinear viscous dampers is also presented,and have great significance in practical engineering application;(3)The space frame structure has been analyzed under the unidirectional and bidirectional seismic excitation by the finite element software.Research shows that the damping effect of schemes of symmetrical setting nonlinear viscous damper is the same basically,and damping effect is more significant;but the frame structure,which is installed asymmetrical nonlinear viscous damper,have different extent of torsional responses,and with the increase of the degree of asymmetry,damping effect is worse,and its seismic response is even more than the corresponding seismic structure,of which impact on the structure is extremely unfavorable.Therefore,the damper should bearranged symmetrically in frame structure;(4)In this paper,nonlinear viscous dampers are arranged in the frame of the bottom frame masonry structure,seismic response has been analyzed preliminarily,and the response is compared with the traditional of bottom frame structure.The result show that the nonlinear viscous damper has good damping effect on the bottom frame masonry structure.
