In the context of rural revitalization, rural development in China will face more opportunities and challenges. At the same time of rapid construction and development, rural areas are faced with the problems that need to be solved, such as the convergence of style and features, the loss of local characteristics, and the sense of belonging of the population. The development of the village is not an overnight renewal, but a process of gradual accumulation and steady management, which is a kind of sustainability based on its own value identification. The essence of this kind of sustainable development is to maintain the dynamic balance of the internal and external relations in the process of village development, coordinate the contradiction between the local characteristics and the external impact, and make a reasonable judgment on the "new" and "old" choices in the process of rural development. How to keep "homesickness" and make the countryside more like the countryside? How to achieve sustainable development in rural areas? It makes us think.Taking the NongLin Village as an example, this paper studies its "architectural vernacular".To explore the customs, general mood and prevailing custom with the characteristics of "Feng",and The characteristics of physical space entity as base material with the characteristics of "Tu",and the interaction between them. And from the development process of the village to summarize the law,to explore the hidden cultural "gene" and spatial "prototype" in the development and evolution process of the village. The research takes the spatial form as the breakthrough point, from the macro to the micro level, and discusses the village, courtyard, architecture, decoration and other aspects in depth. Each level of research is based on the status quo research and records, with time as the dimension, and analyzed in stages. All levels of research are based on the material space itself, but not on its own to study the architectural vernacular, but with a dynamic thinking to discuss the interaction between the ontology matrix and environmental factors.First of all,it is a macro study on the village level, which starts from the overall vernacular environment of the village, analyzes its spatial layout, landscape, road and public space form and evolution, traces back to the original form of the early village, deduces its initial state, gradually clarifies the development and evolution process of the village, understand the formation, construction and growth process of the village in the unique local environment.Secondly,it is the mesoscopic study of courtyard and single building level. It discusses the composition and characteristics of courtyard, and analyzes the characteristics and causes of different types of courtyard, explore the law of the evolution of courtyard and group form, explore the "prototype" and "prototype" changes in each stage of courtyard development and evolution, and record the life of different types of courtyard to show the impact of environmental forces on Villagers’ life; Then the courtyard is divided into different types of monomer, such as caves, gatehouses, main rooms and wing rooms, and its plane, elevation and section are analyzed to explore the characteristics of different types of monomer space forms,as well as the role of environmental factors on the evolution of monomer space forms and functions. The third is the micro research of architectural decoration and component level, which respectively analyzes the characteristics and evolution of decorative components such as eaves, ridges, doors, windows, gatehouses, shadow walls and shrines. At last, the paper makes a summary and evaluation of the current situation of the village, and takes the project practice as an example to put forward the relevant suggestions of the development and construction of the village, and explores the method of "vernacular" in the architectural design.
