| Recycled water,as a powerful method for environmental and social problems caused by water shortage and pollution, has been widely valued by various countries. However,in the process of use and promotion, the governments of the countries faced a variety of problems such as resistance from residents and low willingness to use. However, the usage of recycled water is in a stage of rapid development in China.Besides the improvement of infrastructures such as water pipelines, treatment technologies and systems are also continuously being optimized. In this case, the Chinese government must be aware of the importance of residents as the main body in the use and promotion of recycled water.Otherwise, recycled water may not be widely used even if it is widely accepted.Developing technologies and facilities cannot promote the use of recycled water but only when residents are willing to use it.Therefore,it is very important to study the factors that affect the use of recycled water for urban residents.By combing the domestic and foreign research results,we found that the researches on the reuse of recycled water mainly focus on macro factors such as social influence, policies, and technologies, which are finally expressed as individual behaviors. Therefore,it is very important to research the use of recycled water from based on individuals. However,in terms of research methods, existing studies mainly carry out pre-hypothesis and quantitative testing based on theories, which may lead to incomplete factor selection. Therefore,on the basis of the existing research, this paper studies the use of recycled water from the micro perspective based on individual urban residents, and takes the city of Xi’an as an example.First,by using the qualitative research methodof grounding theory to avoid the pre-emptive problem caused by presuppositions, this paper analyzes, summarizes and codes the data obtained from the in-depth interviews to explore more impact factors of the urban residents ’recycled water reuse behavior and construct the initial theoretical model based on the factors.Secondly, this paper uses multiple stratification regression to verify the initial model based on data collected by questionnaires,so as to determine significant individual factors that affect the reuse of recycled water by urban residents. Finally, this paper provides countermeasures and suggestions for promoting the reuse of recycled water based on the research results. The main conclusions of this study are as follows: In the user attributes level, the education level and the experience of lack of water resources have a significant positive effect on the behaviors intention of potential users in the reuse of recycled water. The effects of other attributes such as gender, age, income level, and family structure are not significant. In the psychological awareness level, government trust, behavioral attitudes, and environmental concern have a significant positive impact on the reuse of recycled water behaviors intention while risk perception has a significant negative effect. However, price perception does not have a significant effect. In the behavioral ability aspect, behavioral awareness and the ability to control recycled water behaviors intention have a significant positive effect on the reuse of recycled water. |
