This paper takes the Da Yu Temple at Yumenkou(Dragon Gate)of the Yellow River in Shanxi and Shaanxi area as the research object.The the Da Yu Temple at the Yumenko of the Yellow River,which was contracted under the emperor order in the third year of the reign of Kublai,the fifth emperor of the Yuan Dynastys,was located on the banks of the Yumenko of the Jinshaan Gorge of the Yellow River,12 kilometers northwest of Hejin City,Shanxi Province.It is a regional scenic spot and historical site commemorating the ancient rituals of "the King of Yu Chiseling the Dragon Gate".It is also the place where the famous mythology "Carp Leaping over the Dragon Gate" took place.With its outstanding architectural form and spatial effect,the temple has become a typical landscape and cultural heritage of Shanxi and Shaanxi.It is a highly concise feature of the construction of human settlements along the Yellow River in the Shanxi-Shaanxi area,which contains unique oriental wisdom.The purpose of this paper is to explore the unique architectural experience and human settlements of the Shanxi-Shaanxi area highlighted by the the Da Yu Temple,and to clarify its historical development,spatial composition and construction concept.In the historical research section,taking the existing historical documents as clue,basing on contemporary geographic information technology,geography and hydrological data,archaeological literature,this paper studies the evolution of human settlements,the development of architectural space,and the content of supporting systems in the historical process of the the Da Yu Temple;In the spatial research part,through historical documents,related records in the transcripts,combining the historical photographs,aerial photographs,and oral historical data newly discovered and recorded,depending on the construction regulations of the standard format and engineering examples and the historical buildings common features in the surrounding area,taking the site of the temple which was recorded in the aerial survey of the 1960 s as the figure-ground,with the multi-evidence method this paper scientifically restores the spatial form and architectural style of the the Da Yu Temple,which was presented in the technical drawings and 3D models.In the conception study section,perspectives ofconception,site selection,space shaping,scenery character,and sublimation of artistic creation are taken to explore the historical origins of the unique appearance and spatial experience of the the Da Yu Temple,so as to reproduce its heritage of architectural wisdom and provide a reference for the contemporary building creation.Finally,based on the multi-value of the the Da Yu Temple,the contemporary status quo and the consensus principle of restoration and reutilization,the contemporary inheritance and utilization strategy are proposed.
