Since the advent of the shipping container business in the 1960 s to today, container shipping has become a standout in the shipping industry. The development level of container ports is not only used to measure the port's own development level, but also becomes a benchmark for evaluating the development level of port cities. In the nearly two decades since China's accession to the WTO,China's international trade has entered a new era. With the east wind of international trade, container transportation has developed to the world's top level.According to statistics,in the ranking of container throughput in the world in 2019,7 of the top 10 are Chinese ports. In order to achieve economies of scale, container ships are developing towards large-scale and high-speed development. As of the completion of the paper, the world's largest container ship "Mediterranean Gurson" has reached 23,756 TEU(20-foot TEU).However, the berthing conditions of large container ships are very high.At present, there are only a few hub ports that allow large container ships to be docked. The limited number and geographical location of the hub port limit the development of the container transportation network. At this time, small and medium-sized terminals of the branch line are needed to assist. The huge freight volume of the hub port also needs to be decomposed by the branch line terminal.Under the dual influence of the national “Belt and Road” policy and the establishment of the China-Korea Free Trade Zone, the freight volume of Shandong Peninsula ports is increasing day by day.Under such a background, small and medium-sized ports such as S-ports are playing an increasingly important role.Compared with hub ports such as Shanghai Port and Qingdao Port, the development of feeder terminals is still at a very preliminary stage. The construction, loading and unloading machinery and management of the port area are not the same as the hub port. The port's distribution operations seem to be inadequate, which greatly affects the operation of the entire container freight network and hinders the development of multimodal transport.Because the author has an intersection with S port in the work, which is convenient for follow-up research, and the problems in the development of S port containers are very common in small and medium-sized branch ports. The research results of S port related issues can be applied to the operation of such ports. This article summarizes relevant domestic and foreign research data, combined with the actual situation of S port, and found that the area of the container yard and the number of loading and unloading machinery in the S port container terminal operation system can no longer meet the current operational needs. However, due to financial problems,it was not possible to expand the yard or purchase a large number of loading and unloading machinery in a short time.It is understood that the gantry crane loading and unloading technology is mostly used in the operation of the container yard at S port,so it is imperative to improve the gantry crane loading and unloading technology.Another major factor restricting its development in the S-port container logistics system is the problem of container berth allocation. At present, there are only three dedicated container berths at S Port, and a large amount of capital cannot be invested for expansion in the short term. When formulating the berthing plan for container ships at Port S,the principle of first-come-first-served is followed, that is,the berthing sequence is arranged according to the arrival time of the ships, and the ships arriving later need to wait at the anchorage. This service principle seems fair, but the cost of equal berth for ships of different sizes varies greatly. The cost of equal berth for large container ships is several times that of small container ships. This shows that this service principle can no longer meet the development of container port's idea. This paper creates mathematical models for the above two problems, designs the ant colony algorithm and uses MATLAB software to solve it.Through the calculation and analysis of the S-port container terminal transportation example,it is verified that the algorithm and model can reduce the operating time of the gantry crane and the ship's operating time in the port, effectively reduce the operating cost, and improve the port operating efficiency.
