With the development of urbanization, urban villages are unique products that have emerged under the dual urban-rural system in China.Compared with other urban communities, urban villages have dense buildings and poor environments.low economic conditions of residents in the villages, mixed resident population, and indigenous villagers and migrants live together. These factors make the travel choices of urban village residents different from other communities in the city.In the context of urban renewal,it is of great significance to study the characteristics and influencing factors of urban travel mode selection to facilitate urban village residents to travel, alleviate regional traffic problems in urban villages, and promote the sustainable development of regional transport. This article focuses on the changes of community residents’ travel under the demolition and reconstruction of urban villages, explores the changes in the influence factors of the choices of community residents’ travel methods under the demolition and reconstruction of urban villages, and provides guidance for the improvement of community residents’ travel conditions. This paper selects the typical urban villages and demolished and rebuilt communities in the central urban area of Zhuhai city, and analyzes the differences between the two types of communities in urban villages and demolished and reconstructed communities in terms of household attributes, personal attributes, surrounding built environment and residents’ travel characteristics. The urban village transformation has changed the built environment around the community, resulting in changes in the residential groups in the community, and the characteristics of the residents’ travel in the community.Considering the impact of the above factors on residents’ travel behavior, this paper establishes an index system of influencing factors of residents’ travel, and constructs a structural equation model to explore the impact of residents’ socio-economic attributes, residential built-in environment attributes, and other travel attributes on residents’ transportation choices. At the same time, considering the important influence of car ownership in the choice of travel mode, the car purchase decision is considered as a type of influence variable in the model, and its role in the choice of travel mode is analyzed.Combined with the calculation results of the model, comparatively analyze the impact of various influencing factors on the choice of residents’ travel modes in urban villages and demolished and rebuilt communities. It was found that in demolished and rebuilt communities, the influence of family population, income level, education level and working days per week on the choice of residents’ travel mode was higher than in urban villages, while the influence of housing nature and gender on the choice of residents’ travel mode decreased. The impact of the built environment on the choice of residents’ travel methods is also different between urban villages and demolition and reconstruction communities.Whether there is a car and travel distance have the same effect on residents’ travel in the two types of communities.Combined with the changes in the impact of various influencing factors in urban villages and demolition and reconstruction communities on residents’ travel, guidance and suggestions are made in the construction of transportation facilities and built environment during the demolition and reconstruction process to reduce residents’ willingness to buy cars and encourage residents to choose green transportation.
