With China's social progress and economic development,yachts as a high-class entertainment consumer goods slowly into people's vision.As a category of yachts,Sailing Yachts has the characteristics of wind power and more maneuverability,and are popular with people who like to go on adventures and long voyages.Sailing has a long history.Although it has been gradually replaced by boats equipped with engines for the reasons of power and efficiency,in today's pursuit of green environment.Sailing yachts as high-end entertainment consumer goods,is more in line with the requirements of The Times.Compared with ordinary yachts,sailing yachts can make people experience the pleasure of driving,the development of sailing yachts is bound to become a trend.China's yacht industry is just starting to develop,the sailing yacht design theory is more scarce,so the study of the design theory of sailing yacht for the practical application of production has a certain social value,to promote the further development of the yacht industry also plays a positive role.This paper takes the design of a 14 m sailing yacht as an example,The overall performance design and calculation process of sailing yacht are studied and systemically arranged,analyzes the key points,and summarizes a design process of the sailing yacht based on MAXSURF software,which provides reference for the future design of the sailing yacht.The design process of sailing yacht is a kind of spiral design method,which needs to be constantly adjusted according to different performance.The design process includes four aspects: preliminary design,hull overall performance calculation,speed prediction and shape design.This paper calculates the general performance of sailing boats based on MAXSURF software.Different modules in MAXSURF were used to calculate the ship's resistance,seakeeping and stability.SPAN module in MAXSURF was used to calculate the sailing speed forecast.FLUENT software was used to analyze the factors affecting the sail performance.The modeling design of sailing yacht is modeled through Rhino.The established model is rendered using Keyshot software.Sailing yachts need to be designed in combination with keel and sail.MAXSURF can realize the rapid establishment of the hull model,and can directly conduct the corresponding ship performance and speed prediction analysis.the calculation results of MAXSURF software are basically consistent with the results of shipborne experiments.For small and medium-sized enterprises,they are no longer subject to test restrictions.The software can be used to calculate the ship's performance to provide a design reference for the initial design of sailing yacht.There is a lack of relevant design theory and research on the design of sailing yacht in China,so the research on the design of sailing yacht plays a positive role in promoting the development of China's yacht industry in the future.
