Qi Biaojia,born in Shanyin,Zhejiang,is a politician,writer,dramatist,and garden enthusiast active in the history of China in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasty.Once an official resident of the Imperial Palace,he had a close relationship and a deep friendship with Zhang Dai,a famous writer in the late Ming Dynasty.In his short life of forty-four years,resignation was the turning point in his life.After that,he lived in Yushan,Jiangyin for eight years,and built his own material and spiritual home,Yushan Garden.He eventually killed himself in the pond of the garden after the Qing soldiers entered the city.This article first introduces the current research status of the subject and points out that there is relatively little research on Qi Biaojia's garden aesthetics.After briefly describing Qi Biaojia's life,he follows the principle of knowing the world and analyzes the formation process of Qi Biaojia's garden aesthetics It is influenced by the background of the times,family education,and interpersonal relationships.Later,by combining the development of gardens in the Ming Dynasty,Qi Biaojia's theory of garden aesthetics system,the layout of the garden,and the landscaping techniques were discussed separately.The similarities and differences of his garden aesthetics with other Jiangnan gardens at that time and their unique aesthetic values were analyzed,as well as the inspiration for contemporary garden aesthetics research.
