As an innovative passenger transport product of railway,the Sunset-departure and Sunrise-arrival trains(SST)on high-speed railway(HSR)is widely favored in practice with its unique product characteristics.With the gradual formation of high-speed railway network,and the continuous growth of long-distance passenger flow about SST on HSR,the large-scale network operation of SST on HSR will become an inevitable trend.Indepth research on which lines to run and how to operate SST on HSR is an important problem to be faced with and urgently be solved in the future.In this paper,in order to solve the practical problems as the starting point,drawing lessons from the existing actual operation scheme and the existing research results,a set of methods,including qualitative and quantitative combined analysis,mathematical statistics,cluster analysis,KNN analogy prediction,graphical method,mathematical modeling,have been used.This paper makes a systematic study on the HSR network conditions,passenger flow demand,operation mode and stopping plan of SST on HSR.This article is different from other relevant papers that only for SST on HSR to conduct an independent research,while this paper more systematically and comprehensively integrates a series of research contents related to the operation scheme of SST on HSR,and forms a whole set of research on the design process of SST on HSR,which has more theoretical guidance and practical application value.The research contents of this paper include:(1)From the perspective of HSR network conditions,the supply market of SST on HSR was analyzed.Based on the nodes and distances of HSR network,the clustering analysis method was used to classify the nodes of HSR stations into two levels: large nodes and small nodes.This method was used to obtain 36 large first-level nodes which can be used as origin and destination or key stops of HSR on HSR,and then the distance distribution range and the connection condition of HSR were analyzed according to the 630 OD,which formed between the first-level large nodes.(2)From the perspective of passenger flow demand,the demand market of SST on HSR was analyzed.Based on Passenger flow data of HSR lines where SST have been operated,the multi-dimensional passenger flow characteristics were analyzed.By comparing different passenger flow prediction(PFP)methods,an analog-based KNearest Neighbor(KNN)passenger flow prediction method was proposed,and the characteristic variables affecting PFP were determined by analogizing the OD passenger flow of HSR lines where SST have been operated.The constructed KNN passenger flow prediction model was used to predict passenger flow of SST on HSR between large nodes.Considering the condition of passenger flow,an alternative set of HSR lines,where SST will be operated,was generated.(3)Setting of comprehensive maintenance skylight and optimization of operation mode.With passenger flow support,the technical condition of lines should be considered.the problem of the choice of operation mode,namely,the coordination between the train running at night and the skylight setting,was studied.The characteristics and applicable scope of different operation modes were compared and summarized.This paper focuses on the optimization modeling of the periodic moving compression skylight mode which is suitable for the whole HSR network and can realize the coordination of multi-lines skylight.The goal of optimization is to minimize the difficulty of organization and quantify it as covering all lines with the least number of key intervals(the interval with skylight gaps left),so as to achieve the optimal operation of SST on the entire HSR network.(4)A case study was carried out.The optimization model was solved by using Python and CPLEX,and the results were analyzed.Furthermore,the stopping scheme of HSR was obtained by means of graphic method.The feasibility and practicability of the research results were verified.
