The rapid development of automobile industry puts forward higher requirements on the design of NVH(Noise,Vibration and Harshness). As an important part of automobile safety guarantee, the noise generated by the brake assembly during actuation is transmitted to the cockpit through suspension, steering system and body, which is perceived by the driver and affects the comfort of users. In the automobile industry, brake noise has been listed as one of the important quality concerns. The mechanism of brake noise generation is complex, the brake assembly with different structural characteristics, the wear degree of brake lining, assembly accuracy, the thickness difference of brake disc and other factors affect the generation of brake noise to different degrees,so it has randomness,instantaneity,time-varying,uncertainty and intermittence. This paper conducts noise optimization and verification for a disc brake, mainly through the following methods:(1)The theory of self-excited vibration analyzes the braking noise, that is,when the brake is actuated, the coupling of the brake lining and the brake disc and the improper matching of the modal parameters of the brake components lead to the system instability, generating self-excited vibration, thus generating braking noise of different frequencies.(2)Modal analysis method: Analyze the natural frequency of brake disc, brake lining and brake, conduct modal isolation and reduce the resonance probability.(3)Test analysis method: The test analysis is mainly to match and verify the brake noise through the noise test bench, which is specific, fast and convenient. After the bench test is qualified, the vehicle test is arranged for verification. The results of this paper on the disc brake noise optimization direction,problem-solving methods and processes. It provides reference and help for reducing brake noise.
