Slit coaxial cable(SCC)is usually used in limited spaces to ensure that the electromagnetic waves can uniformly cover the area.Because of its relatively wide frequency band,it has been widely used in various complex environment in wireless communication systems.In recent years,slit coaxial cable used in tunnels,subways and buildings provides a reliable mobile coverage.Due to its wide frequency band and relatively uniform distribution of radiation energy in long and narrow environments,slit coaxial cable is successfully applied to certain situations,detecting the failed elements in phased antenna arrays.This paper studies the radiation characteristics of slit coaxial cable.A flexible model is established and the commercial electromagnetic simulation software HFSS is used to simulate and analyze the factors that influence the radiation characteristics of slit coaxial cables,so as to design an ideal structure with good matching characteristics,uniform near-field radiation,etc.The main work and innovation of this paper can be generalized as the following two parts:1.The radiation characteristics of slit coaxial cables are analyzed with simulations.Based on the results,a new type of slit coaxial cable with hybrid slit structures is proposed.The design freedom has been improved by adding several adjustable parameters.Through simulations with HFSS,the effects of all the key parameters have been investigated and the proposed slit coaxial cable has been optimized.2.Slit coaxial cables can be applied as reader antennas in a RFID system,and the read/write range of RFIDs can be controlled flexibly.Slit coaxial cables can also be used for detecting the failed elements in a phased array.The distribution properties of the radiation fields of the slit coaxial cables in these applications have been investigated through HFSS simulations,and the feasibility has been verified.
