With the rapid development of urbanization process,Gan Zhou's urban space has gradually shifted from incremental development to stock mining.Yao's historical and cultural blocks,as an important carrier of the continuation and inheritance of urban traditional culture,are the "living fossils" that carry on the ancient and modern and continue the future,witness the development process of the city,and rebuild the vitality of historical and cultural blocks,which is vital to the vitality of the city.However,the historical and cultural blocks in Yamen are complex,and the multi-storey modern buildings in the blocks have greatly damaged the historical features of the whole block.A large number of traditional houses have poor quality,complex housing property rights,backward infrastructure,low income level of people living in them,and transfer of urban functions,leading to the fact that the decline of blocks has become an indisputable fact.It is difficult to protect and update.It is an important proposition for us to realize how to revitalized the historical and cultural blocks and integrate them into the urban development,so as to bring vitality to the development of Gan Zhou ancient city.Throughout the practice of the protection and renewal of the historical and cultural blocks in China,since the end of the last century,it has experienced the rough stage of demolishing and building and archaize,and is gradually moving towards maturity and rationality.A great deal of theoretical research and protection and renewal practice has made the development of historical and cultural blocks from a single protection to a comprehensive and diversified updating direction.It is of practical significance to explore a feasible and timeliness protection and renewal strategy.As a kind of urban design theory,"urban catalyst" has strategic guiding value.It aims to emphasize the introduction of new elements by strategically introducing the new elements without changing its own attributes,and promoting the vitality of the whole region through the catalyst chain effect of small-scale catalyst.This article introduces the theory of urban catalyst to the practice of protection and renovation of historical and cultural blocks in Yao Ya Qian.By interpreting the relevant contents of urban catalyst theory and summarizing its function principles and characteristics,the practicability of the theory and the feasibility of introducing historical and cultural blocks are confirmed through case studies at home and abroad.Based on these studies,a complete application strategy of catalyst is constructed,and the current situation of Yao Ya historical and cultural block is thoroughly analyzed,and the current situation is analyzed and summarized.The catalyst strategy is applied to the example of Yao Ya historical and cultural district protection and renewal.From the strategic guidance design to the implementation stage feedback tracking,as a new strategy application attempt,it provides experience and reference for the protection and renewal of historical and cultural blocks.
