With the construction of China's high-speed railway network,China has entered the "high-speed railway era",the travel mode and habits have changed accordingly. The opening of high-speed railway has significantly saved travel time and improved population mobility, and tourism will be greatly affected.Since the high-speed trains only shorten the travel time of cross-regional passengers, but not the travel time of goods and commuters within the city, the industrial development under the booming tourism industry is bound to be impacted. On the one hand, tourism may compete with manufacturing in terms of labor input, leading to de-industrialization.On the other hand, the development of tourism will bring new vitality to the development of local economy and promote the development of manufacturing industry by increasing the demand for manufactured goods.Fast, safe, punctual and stable high-speed railway reduces the commuting time cost of people to a considerable extent and expands the travel space radius. Therefore, under the background of the rapid development of high-speed railway,it is of great significance to analyze the impact of high-speed railway opening on tourism economy and explore the new changes in urban economy based on the rapid development of new modes of transportation,so as to formulate industrial policies in the new composite situation. In this paper, the data of 276prefecture-level and above cities in China from 2006 to 2016 were used to construct the difference in difference(DID)model to analyze the impact of high-speed railway opening on tourism and whether the regions with abundant tourism resources will see the phenomenon of "de-industrialization".The empirical results show that the opening of urban high-speed railway can effectively promote the improvement of urban tourism economic indicators. However, this influence effect has regional differences, which can significantly promote cities with abundant tourism resources. However, for cities with poor tourism resources,high-speed railway has a negative impact on tourism due to the competition with tourism cities. After replacing the tourism resource endowment variable and excluding the samples before 2008,the research conclusion is still robust.Further analysis shows that the tourism boom promoted by high-speed railway has a certain negative impact on the industrial development of tourist cities, but it may promote the industrial development of industrial cities.
