Energy consumption in the whole life cycle of buildings accounts for a high proportion of total energy consumption in society.It is one of the main sources of greenhouse gases.It has attracted worldwide attention and carbon emissions reduction in buildings will be the focus of global long-term greenhouse gas emission reduction.As a natural building material,straw bale is widely used in ecological buildings around the world.In the past 20 years,the research and construction of straw bale buildings in China have never stopped.Its advantages such as insulation performance,local materials and low cost are unanimously recognized and can significantly reduce the carbon emissions of the building's whole life cycle.Based on the life cycle assessment method,this paper proposes a hybrid life cycle?Hybrid-LCA?method for building carbon emissions,which aims to quantify the life cycle carbon emissions of domestic straw bale buildings and explore the strengths and weaknesses of different structural forms.Firstly,this paper reviewed the development and research framework of life cycle assessment theory,the application of life cycle theory in building carbon emissions,and the existing researches on life cycle carbon emissions of straw bale buildings.The shortcomings and problems of current researches on carbon emissions from building life cycle are analyzed and summarized.Secondly,this paper introduced in detail the current sources of building carbon emissions and the most commonly measurement methods of building carbon emissions,which are process-based inventory analysis method and input-output method based on input-output table.The implied carbon emission coefficients of relevant industrial sectors were calculated through"China's input-output table 2012"and"Energy Statistics Yearbook 2013".In view of the shortcomings of current research,the hybrid life cycle carbon emission calculation method is introduced.The input-output data is used to replace the missing data in the process analysis,and the calculation formulas of hybrid life cycle carbon emission are listed.Thirdly,taking the existing and time-tested practical straw bale buildings in China as an example,the life cycle carbon emissions of four straw bale buildings with different structures are calculated through the hybrid life cycle method.These four types of straw bale buildings are brick-concrete structure,wood structure,light steel self-bearing structure and steel frame structure.Comparing with the traditional building materials,the carbon emission reduction effect of straw bales in rural construction is calculated.In addition,straw bales are used as carbon pools to calculate and evaluate their ability to store CO2 in buildings.Finally,according to the statistical data of China,this paper summarized and analyzed the application prospects and emission reduction potential of straw bales in future rural buildings,and put forward the strategies of material selection for future rural buildings.
