Since 70 s,cities have been developing rapidly and absorbing large amounts of inflow into the population.The layout of primary schools in most cities in China was also finalized in this period.Since then,the spatial structure of the city has been expanded to the dominant direction.Various elements have gradually moved into the new urban areas,while the basic finalization of primary schools in the old urban areas has not changed much.In this context,the urban infrastructure is facing increasingly prominent problems,especially the debate on education resources is particularly fierce.The problems faced by primary schools in old urban areas are very serious,because the planning of the campus has undergone many years of expansion and transformation,and the reserved land of the campus has already been used,so the fundamental problem facing the tapping of the potential of primary schools in old urban areas is how to improve the quality of campus space within a fixed limited area of land,combined with new teaching.The concept of education further explores the potential of campus land use.Education is still in the process of change.Driven by advanced educational concepts,primary school teaching model is also developing in a diversified direction.Therefore,there is more demand for campus space.Primary school how to design can not just meet the lower content,but also realize the future primary school development,inclouding the function?environment and student interest.To create a high level campus envierment space to adapt to primary school development,actual situation of the campus is necessary,Infrastructure in the old urban area is more perfect and the school teaching system is more perfect and mature,and the pressure on the number of students is increasing.On the other hand,the masses are increasingly calling for quality education,while the early campus planning in catering to the new teaching concept of the current limited potential to tap.But there are also many problems in the early reconstruction and expansion of campus: the overall layout lacks organic and it is unreasonable that the coordinated planning by the spatial organization,the utilization of space is not high,there is waste,the surrounding residential areas can not share resources.Based on this situation,the common problems of such campuses are analyzed and studied,and the strategies to improve the quality of campus space and tap the pote ntial of land use are discussed.The author investigates some primary schools in Northwest China which have no reserved land for expansion and reconstruction.Starting from the actual investigation and analysis of the primary school campus,combining with the form of questionnaires and interviews issued by teachers and students,the author understands the actual use needs,surveys,statistics and studies the functional composition,spatial layout and organizational form of the external space of the campus.Analysis and evaluation were carried out to find out strategies for improving the external environment of the existing primary school campus.The main research objects include four types of land use: building layout,track and field,square,greening,road.Through the method of functional composite,combined with the actual case study analysis and application,this paper expounds the thinking of improving the quality of campus space and tapping the potential of land use.
