Well-being and health are people’s eternal pursuit. In recent years, domestic enthusiasm for well-being and health has been growing. The report of the Nineteenth National Congress pointed out that the strategy of "Healthy China" should be implemented, the national health policy should be improved, and all-round and full-cycle health services should be provided to the people. The level of well-being has gradually become one of the symbols of social development. This paper links residents’ daily travel activities with travel well-being and health. It studies the impact of residents’ travel features such as travel time and mode on their travel well-being and health. On this basis,it puts forward traffic policies and measures to improve residents’ travel well-being and health. The conclusions of the study have important reference value for urban planning and traffic policy formulation.Firstly, this paper sorted out the research framework of well-being,clarified the meaning of travel well-being and health, and summarized and analyzed the research of domestic and foreign scholars in this field. Then, based on China Family Tracking Survey(CFPS)and American Time Use Survey(ATUS),the main research contents and conclusions are as follows:(1)Well-being,health and travel characteristics of residents in China and the United States were analyzed, and the impact of travel characteristics on travel well-being and health of residents was clarified by Gini impurity and variance analysis(ANOVA).The study found that the health status of Chinese residents and the travel well-being and health status of American residents have been relatively stable since 2010.In terms of travel, the proportion of American residents traveling by car is very high, reaching 90%.The proportion of domestic residents traveling by bicycle and walking is relatively large, reaching 28% and 42%,respectively.The proportion of car travel is only 5%.(2)Using the method of ordered logistic model, the factors affecting travel well-being are modeled and analyzed. The results show that the travel characteristics affecting travel well-being mainly include travel time, travel purpose and whether or not to interact with others during the trip.Long travel time can reduce travel well-being,especially for high-income residents and married residents. In terms of travel purposes, commuting does bring more negative emotions to travelers.Interaction with others during travel can significantly improve travel well-being.(3)Using the method of binomial logistic model, the factors affecting personal subjective health are modeled and analyzed. The results show that the travel characteristics affecting personal subjective health mainly include travel time and travel mode. When the working day travel time is 30-60 minutes, residents’ subjective health condition is better than that of travelers over 60 minutes. The subjective health status of motorcycle and bicycle travelers is better than that of walking travelers. In addition, the subjective health effects of travel time are also heterogeneous due to gender, marital status, personal income and other personal factors.Women, married residents and high-income people are more vulnerable to the negative impact of travel time.(4)Binomial logistic model was used to model and analyze the factors affecting personal objective health and health behavior. The results show that the way of travel has a significant impact on objective health.(Electric)bicycle travel is more beneficial to objective health than walking.Travel duration only affects the dependent variable of whether or not people feel ill in the last two weeks. In addition, the BMI of car travelers is more likely to deviate from the normal range than that of pedestrians. Finally, according to the conclusions of the study and the current situation of urban traffic in China, the paper puts forward corresponding suggestions from the government level, individual and social level.Government-level proposals include public transport-oriented urban structure optimization, creating a more comfortable travel environment for slow-moving modes of transport;personal and social-level proposals include creating an interactive travel environment, avoiding fatigue travel, and providing diversified travel plans based on individual differences.
