Ultrahigh firing rate weapon,also called metal storm weapon,is a new concept weapon with loading multiple projectiles inside the same barrel of a gun.It has many advantages,including high firing rate,quick response,adjustable firing frequency,etc.Hence it can be widely used in the military application.While the development of the metal storm weapon is limited by the influence between front and rear projectiles,and the big reoil force during the continuous firing.To solve these above problems,the ultrahigh firing rate weapon with a front nozzle was proposed by taking advantage of rarefaction wave theory.The performances of interior ballistic and recoil reduction were also studied in this paper.The proposed structure can get better consistency of the interior ballistic while the recoil reducing.At the same time,it could provide the guidance for the theory and application studies on the ultrahigh firing rate weapon.The main work done by this paper is listed as follows:a)According to the launching principle and the internal ballistic process of guns,a twodimensional internal ballistic two-phase flow model was established.The two-dimensional distributions of various parameters in the gun during the firing process was obtained by numerical simulations.The reliability of the numerical method was also verified.b)The internal ballistic two-phase flow model of the ultrahigh firing rate weapon was established.The launching processes of different firing frequencies were studied.The influences of interior ballistic performances between the front and rear projectiles were analyzed.c)The internal ballistic two-phase flow model of the rarefaction wave gun with a front nozzle was established.The propagation law of the rarefaction wave in the barrel was analyzed.Meanwhile,the influences of different parameters were obtained by numerical simulations.d)The internal ballistic two-phase flow model of the ultrahigh firing rate weapon with the front nozzle was established.The consistency of the interior ballistic and the performance of recoil reduction for different firing frequencies were studied.
