In China,at least 85% of students and teachers spend their life in school,colleges,and universities.In addition,almost spend more than 8 to 10 hour a day.According to this aspect,there is a lack of sustainability assessments standards in schools,colleges,and universities.Although the United States green building council(USGBC)LEED and life cycle assessment(LCA)of buildings and construction materials are the two sustainability standards use as globally in the United States and Europe.So the sustainability integration into is not well developed yet.This paper is about the sustainability of construction materials of building integration into LCA tools and the measurement of impact assessment.After the LCA results,this paper will make a model of LCA integration into LEED and assign the benchmarks of LCA into LEED to achieve a high sustainability assessment.In this model,the two buildings of Tianjin University of China are taken for LCA and LEED.In this model the construction material sustainability operation and recycling.In addition,the operation process has done according to LEED three categories such as energy and atmosphere,Indoor environmental quality and materials and resources.Various materials like concrete,steel,bricks,aluminum,glass,and wood are analyzed.LCA of both buildings is analyzing by GABI 6.0 version.The result assigns from GABI 6.0 impact estimate indicates that how the steel,concrete,and aluminum have high energy and water consumption and how it affects the sustainability.The environmental impact assessment is analyzed in four stages of building(construction stage,operating stage,the demolition stage,and the recycling stage.however,they have a low environmental impact in operating stage.Although the LCA integration into LEED can help the building can achieve a better performance in the usage of water,energy and materials consumption.This thesis indicates the effort of applying and analyzing the LCA of construction material and their environmental impact and make the concept of LEED require documents for sustainability assessment.
