| Childhood is a critical period for personal growth,and establishing good reading habits at this stage plays a positive role in children’s growth.Children’s bookstore could provide a public reading space for children,and the comfortable environment of bookstore can provide them a good reading atmosphere,which promotes the development of their good reading habits.However,according to related investigations,there are relatively few children’s bookstores in China.Even if there are,some of the children’s bookstore designs have shortcomings such as simple functions,unreasonable color matching,disorderly layout,unsuitable modeling for children’s physical and mental development and so on.These issues prevent children from experiencing reading happily.Children’s bookstore is a necessary part for the entire city’s culture.In addition,the investment of children’s education has gradually increased in our country.Due to this situation,designers are required to reform the space design of children’s bookstores.Nowadays,the reason why there are few cases of excellent children’s bookstores in China is that designers do not consider it from the perspective of children and they also do not consider the real requirement of them.Nowadays,we are in an age that focuses on the process of consumer experience,that is,an age of experience economy.Considering the background at present,the author proposes the concept of "experiential children’s bookstores" through studying the relationship between experiential design theory and bookstores and analyzing the design cases of children’s bookstores at home and abroad.The experiential children’s bookstore focuses on multiple cultural function,and the space is designed from the perspective of children in order that they can experience a comfortable and enjoyable reading environment.The author believes that the experiential children’s bookstore will be a "micro-communication" space for children’s activities in the city,because experiential design is not only helpful to shape the space environment of children’s bookstores but also to affect children’s emotional psychology.Through the research and the analysis,it is concluded that the space design of the experiential children’s bookstore should focus on elements including shape design,color design,material design,lighting design,and functional space design.What’s more,it is also concluded that the experiential children’s bookstore needs seven principles: interest,periodicity,interaction,unity,aesthetics,safety,and hygiene.Finally,according to the design elements and principles of the experiential bookstore,the author further strengthens the argument of this thesis through the design practice of the "Fantasy Forest" children’s bookstore in Rizhao,Shandong.By exploring the research theory and practice,the author hopes that this paper can promote the optimization and improvement of children’s bookstores to create a comfortable reading environment and learning atmosphere,and to make some contributions to the space design of children’s bookstores. |
