The scale of modern power systems is increasing,along with it is the increase of large-capacity generator sets and the development towards the direction of over-clinicalization,the problems include the coordination between the safe operation of the unit and the safe operation of the system,the voltage collapse,and the stability of the power system have been caused.Synchro generator excitation system has the function of keeping the terminal voltage constant and has extensive value of researching.Since modern times,Advanced control theory of predictive control(GPC)is more and more widely used in power system.The generalized predictive control with good control function and robust function is frequently used in power system stabilizer(PSS)design,industrial process control,series compensation with controllable(TCSC),generator excitation system control and so on.At the beginning of this paper,the current situation of excitation system control and predictive control theory at domestic and overseas status are described,then the principle of excitation system control and predictive control is described,using predictive control theory in single and multi-machine systems.Nonlinear predictive control method is used in single machine system,based on Taylor series.This system uses the fifth order model of generator,according to the mathematical model,the Taylor series control law is obtained.A predictive control method based on fourth-order Adams prediction-correction is proposed in this paper.Based on the single-machine power system,this paper makes an experiment of multi-machine power system.This system is based on the three-level mathematical model,and two different prediction algorithms are applied to deduce the control law,namely Taylor predictive control method and Adams predictive control method.Based on the model of synchro generator excitation system,the generator prediction controller is designed,analysed by using simulation tools of Matlab/Simulink.The simulation result shows that the predictive controller has good control function,and the design project is feasible.
